Network Arts was formed in 1996, offering creative services to people living in Lewisham who
have severe and enduring mental health support needs. It is now part of South East London
Arts Network (SELAN) which is a charitable organisation offering holistic arts and crafts based
activities for people living in South East London who have mental health support needs.

We provide a supportive welcoming space for our participants to explore their creativity, learn
new arts and crafts techniques and skills, put structure to their day and most importantly have
fun and make new friends.

Our staff and workshop leaders have extensive experience in arts and mental health.
The workshops we offer include: Mosaic, Printing, Textiles, Creative Crafts, Jewellery Making, Drawing, Painting, Creative Writing.

We also run a number of specialist workshops through the year. We regularly organise social and artistic events for our members including trips to galleries and cultural events.

As members become more able they are encouraged to take an active role in the running of
the organisation. They can become mentors to new members, assist the workshop leaders,
run workshops and become directors of the organisation.

We also take on commissions and in recent years have produced work for London Bourough of lewisham, South London and Maudsly NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham Hospital, as well as private individuals. This work provides members with invaluable work experience and is a good way of showcasing our work.

Network Arts holds regular exhibitions of members work in both gallery and public spaces throughout South East London. Exhibitions provide a great way to profile the wonderfully creative work of our members, who we regard as artists in their own right.

membership is open to anyone suffering with severe and enduring mentalhealth needs living in South East London. We accept referrals from psychiatrists and community mentalhealth professionals.

Here's what some of our members say about us...

quotes

And heres what others say

"Network Arts has proved to be an invaluable resource, which has not only allowed service users to express and explore their creativity, but has also provided an important source of social support and has helped service users to establish both structure and a sense of purpose in their lives.

The flexibility of the project has been especially attractive to those who have previously failed to engage with more conventional rehabilitation or occupational therapeutic services and involvement with Network Arts has encouraged individuals to develop in confidence and self esteem, not least when their work has been exhibited or has been valued commercially."
