Network Arts was formed in 1996, offering creative services to people living in Lewisham who
have severe and enduring mental health support needs. It is now part of South East London
Arts Network (SELAN) which is a charitable organisation offering holistic arts and crafts based
activities for people living in South East London who have mental health support needs.

Network Arts has organised or been involved in many events since it's beginning in 1996.Events have included exhibitions, stalls at Lewisham peoples day and in Greenwich market, workshops, celebrations of World mental health day and open days. We have also organised a number of trips and days out for our members to locations including Greenwich Park, Brighton and Kew gardens.

Exhibitions are a great way of showcasing our members work, as well as raising public awareness about mental health issues and promoting art as a way of maintaining mental wellbeing.

Putting on an exhibition involves far more than hanging artwork on a wall. It requires careful planning of, for example, which pieces will be displayed, where in the room they will be displayed, and who should be invited to attend the opening night (Private view). Members are involved throughout this planning process, and for many this helps to increase their self confidence and self esteem.
